Why Negative Energy Returned After An Energy Healing Session—and What You Can Do About It

After an energizing and rejuvenating energy healing session, it can be disheartening to feel negative energy creeping back into your life. It’s a common experience for many, but understanding the reasons behind this recurrence can empower us to take proactive steps to maintain our well-being.

I wish this wasn’t true but let’s be honest it is. I know this because I too have avoided returning for more sessions due to not feeling a shift or believing the negativity returned. Maybe it’s beausce they think that the work was ineffective, that it made no difference, or that the session even worsened their situation. From my experience, there are several factors that can lead to disappointment when it comes to not experiencing a shift during after a sesion. They can include having high expectations that everything will heal in just one session, the ability to relax during that first session, or the strength of the attachment—even if toxic—to the issue. I understand that most people seek relief when they come to us for healers for help, so I completely empathize with feelings of disappointment if they don’t notice any changes.

Here are some additional reasons why negative energy may return and what you can do about it.

1. Underlying Issues Remain

One of the primary reasons why negative energy resurfaces is that the root issues may not have been fully addressed during the healing session. Energy healing often works on different levels, and sometimes deeper emotional or spiritual wounds require multiple sessions to heal completely.

What to Do: Consider scheduling follow-up sessions to delve deeper into any unresolved issues. Journaling or reflecting on your experiences can also help you uncover layers you might not have noticed before.

2. Influences from Your Environment

Returning to a space filled with negativity—whether it’s your home, workplace, or social circles—can significantly impact your energy. Environments laden with stress or conflict can negate the benefits of healing.

What to Do: Create a supportive space by decluttering and cleansing your environment. Consider adding plants, crystals, or calming scents to promote positive energy. Setting boundaries with people who drain your energy is also crucial.

3. Emotional Triggers Surface

Energy healing can stir up emotions that were previously buried. While this is part of the healing process, it can feel overwhelming when these emotions resurface, especially if they are tied to trauma or past experiences.

What to Do: Practice self-care techniques to process these emotions. This could include meditation, creative expression, or talking with a trusted friend or therapist. Allowing yourself to feel and work through these emotions is essential for healing.

4. Absorption of External Energy

As sensitive individuals, we can easily absorb the negative energy of those around us—especially if we’re empathetic by nature. Stepping into a social setting or being around a person with heavy energy can leave us feeling drained.

What to Do: Establish energetic boundaries to protect yourself. Visualize a protective shield around you, or practice grounding techniques to help release any foreign energy you may have picked up.

5. Neglecting Integration Practices

After a healing session, it’s important to integrate the positive changes and insights into your daily life. Sometimes, we might forget to carry forward the energy shift, allowing old patterns to resurface.

What to Do: Create a daily routine that reinforces the positive energy from your session. This could include mindfulness practices, affirmations, or regular check-ins with yourself. Keeping a gratitude journal can also help maintain a positive mindset.

6. Evolving Personal Growth

Life is a journey, and as we grow, new challenges can emerge. Sometimes, returning negative energy is simply a sign that we’re encountering new lessons or areas that need healing.

What to Do: Embrace these challenges as opportunities for growth. Stay open to learning from every experience and consider seeking guidance through further healing sessions or personal development workshops.
