What Is Entity Extraction? Clearing Intrusive Energies in Shamanic Healing
What Is an Entity Extraction?
One of the healing practices sometimes used within my shamanic sessions is called Entity Extraction.
Despite the dramatic name, this work is not about supernatural forces, demons, or paranormal attacks. Instead, it addresses intrusive emotional or energetic patterns that can accumulate in the psyche and energetic field through difficult experiences and relationships.
In this context, entity extraction does not refer to demons or supernatural possession, but to releasing intrusive emotional or energetic influences that can affect a person’s well-being.
In Sacred Shadow Work, these patterns are understood as energies that may no longer belong within your inner system but continue to influence your emotional state, thoughts, or sense of well-being.
When these influences are gently identified and released, people often experience a renewed sense of clarity, balance, and emotional steadiness.
Understanding Intrusive Energies
From a shamanic perspective, everything carries a form of spirit or energetic expression.
Some energies nourish us — like the calming presence of nature, supportive relationships, or moments of creativity and inspiration.
Other energies can become draining or disruptive when they linger in our system.
These influences are often connected to experiences such as:
• prolonged exposure to stressful environments
• difficult relationships or emotional conflict
• unresolved trauma or grief
• absorbing the emotional atmosphere around others
Over time, these energies can settle into the energetic field surrounding the body and subtly affect our mood, thoughts, and vitality.
People sometimes notice this as feeling:
• unusually tired or emotionally heavy
• mentally foggy or disconnected from themselves
• easily influenced by the emotional state of others
• not quite feeling like their usual self
Entity Extraction in Shamanic Healing
In shamanic healing traditions, practices similar to entity extraction have been used to help release energetic influences that no longer serve a person’s well-being.
During a session, we work within a grounded and supportive space using shamanic journeying and energy-based practices to identify and clear these intrusive patterns.
Tools such as stones, energy orbs, or symbolic ritual objects may be used to help shift the energy and restore balance to the system.
The goal of this work is not confrontation, but gentle restoration.
By releasing what does not belong within your energetic field, the body and psyche can return to a more natural state of equilibrium.
How This Connects to the Inner Gate
In Sacred Shadow Work, the inner world is often experienced through the symbolic landscape known as the Inner Gate.
Within this inner space we encounter the forces that shape our lives — particularly the Protector, who works to keep us safe, and the Dreamer, who carries our longing for growth and possibility.
Intrusive energies can sometimes interfere with this inner relationship by amplifying anxiety, emotional heaviness, or mental noise.
When these influences are cleared, the Protector and Dreamer can begin relating to each other more naturally, allowing the inner system to settle and rebalance.
What People Often Experience After an Extraction
After this type of work, people frequently describe:
• a sense of emotional lightness
• clearer thinking and mental calm
• improved energetic balance
• a feeling of being more present within themselves
As with all healing practices, the experience can be subtle and unfold gradually as the system integrates the shift.
A Gentle Invitation
Entity extraction is only one of the many practices sometimes used within Sacred Shadow Work.
The deeper aim of this work is not simply to remove unwanted energies, but to support the inner system in returning to balance so that the Protector and Dreamer can move forward in greater harmony.
