Understanding Common Inner Experiences

You may recognize yourself in different places at different times

As you move through life, your inner experience can shift.

Sometimes you may feel open and clear.
Other times more guarded, uncertain, or pulled in different directions.

These are not fixed states or stages.

They are natural ways your system responds
depending on what you’ve experienced and what feels safe.

You may recognize yourself in one of these…
or move between them over time.

These are sometimes referred to as the “Inner Gate States,” but you don’t need to remember or learn them.

When you feel guarded

There may be a sense of holding back.

You might:

  • hesitate before speaking or acting
  • keep your thoughts or feelings to yourself
  • feel safer observing than participating
  • want connection, but also feel the need to protect yourself

This is often your system trying to keep things stable and safe.

When something begins to stir

You may start to feel that something is shifting.

You might notice:

  • a quiet desire for something more
  • moments of curiosity or openness
  • a sense that you don’t want things to stay the same
  • small impulses toward change

Even if nothing has changed on the outside,
something inside is beginning to move.

When you feel pulled in different directions

This can feel like tension or inner conflict.

Part of you may want change,
while another part holds back.

You might experience:

  • overthinking or second-guessing
  • starting something, then stopping
  • feeling both ready and not ready at the same time
  • frustration with yourself for not moving forward

This is a very common place to be.

When things begin to feel clearer

There may be moments of alignment.

You might notice:

  • clearer decisions
  • a stronger sense of what feels right for you
  • more trust in your responses
  • a sense of steadiness, even if things aren’t perfect

These moments don’t always last —
but they show you what’s possible.

When you feel more grounded and settled

At times, things may feel more integrated.

You might experience:

  • feeling more at ease in yourself
  • less internal conflict
  • greater emotional steadiness
  • the ability to respond, rather than react

This doesn’t mean everything is “fixed.”

It simply means your system feels more supported and balanced.

These experiences are not linear

You may move between these places many times.

There is no final state to reach.
No right way to move through them.

Each one carries information about what you need,
what you’re protecting,
and what may be ready to shift.

How this connects to the work

In sessions, we gently explore where you are
and what may be influencing your experience.

Through shamanic healing, energy work, and inner exploration,
we begin to understand what’s happening beneath the surface
and support the shifts that are ready to unfold.

There is no need to push or force anything.

We simply begin where you are.

If you’re ready to explore this more directly, you can begin with an Inner Listening Shamanic Session or a Reiki and Energy Session.

A Gentle Next Step

If you recognize yourself in any of these experiences,
you’re not alone — and you don’t have to navigate it on your own.
