The Five Inner Gate States

A gentle self-assessment to reflect how the inner system is organizing itself.

At any given time, either your Protector or your Dreamer may be leading — or they may be negotiating.

These States are not labels.

They are simply ways to recognize what is happening internally right now.

Read through each one slowly.
Notice which feels most familiar.

You don’t need to get it “right.”
You’re simply noticing.

Where Are You Standing at the Inner Gate?

This free guide introduces the five Inner Gate States and helps you recognize how protection and longing may be shaping your path right now.

1. The Guarded State

In this state, safety feels more important than possibility.

You might recognize yourself here if:

  • You hesitate before visibility
  • You avoid situations that feel exposing
  • You overthink decisions
  • You pull back when something matters
  • Staying small feels safer than risking disappointment

The desire for more may still be there — but protection feels stronger.

Support that fits the Guarded State

If protection feels strong and visibility feels risky, begin gently and with minimal pressure.

The Earth Pathway supports this state through grounding, nervous system regulation, and restoring a sense of safety in the body.

Recommended starting points:

This is about stabilizing first — not opening too much, too fast.

2. The Stirring State

In this state, something new is beginning to move.

You might notice:

  • Curiosity returning
  • Quiet ideas you haven’t acted on
  • Excitement mixed with doubt
  • Starting something, then stopping
  • A sense that “something wants to change”

The Dreamer is present — but still cautious.

Support that fits The Stirring State

Where something wants to move, but cautiously

If curiosity is returning but your system still hesitates, rhythm and gentle encouragement help.

The Water Pathway supports this state by gently opening the emotional world and allowing healing and retrieval to begin.

Recommended starting points:

This state often benefits from supportive repetition rather than intensity.

3. The Divided State

In this state, you feel pulled in two directions.

You might notice:

  • Wanting growth but freezing
  • Starting and stopping repeatedly
  • Feeling frustrated with yourself
  • Inner arguments between “go” and “stay”
  • Shame around inconsistency

Both safety and expansion feel urgent.

Support that fits the Divided State

Where tension feels active

If you feel pulled in two directions and caught in a stop-start cycle, continuity is often more regulating than a one-off session.

The Fire Pathway supports this state by working with the protector and transforming the tension between longing and protection.

Recommended support:

The goal here is steadiness and integration, not forcing a decision.

4. The Aligned State

In this state, movement feels steadier.

You might notice:

  • Taking thoughtful risks
  • Clearer boundaries
  • Less inner conflict
  • Growth that feels intentional
  • Confidence that doesn’t feel forced

Protection and possibility are beginning to cooperate.

Support that fits the Aligning State

When growth feels steadier and more intentional.

The Air Pathway supports this state by helping the dreamer’s vision, truth, and inner guidance become clearer.

Recommended support:

This stage benefits from conscious reinforcement.

5. The Embodied State

In this state, protection and dreaming feel integrated.

You might notice:

  • Sustainable confidence
  • Expansion that still feels safe
  • Clear decision-making
  • A steady internal foundation
  • Less second-guessing

You are not fearless.
You are regulated.

Support that fits the Embodied State

Where protection and dreaming feel integrated

Here, support becomes maintenance, nourishment, and ongoing alignment.

The Spirit Pathway supports this state by integrating insight into lived experience and deepening connection with spiritual guidance.

Recommended support:

This is about sustaining what you’ve built — without overworking your system.

Now Pause

Which State feels most familiar right now?

You may recognize yourself in more than one.
That’s normal.

The purpose of this self-assessment is not to categorize you — it’s to help you understand what kind of support would feel safest and most useful.

A Gentle Reminder

If you’re unsure where you fit, start with The Sacred Pause or a Soul Listening Session. Both are designed to meet you without pressure.
